Title: Salacia
Length: Approx 96,000 words
Genre: Adventure/Sci-Fi
Exploring another planet is arguably the most difficult job in human history, but what starts out as a difficult task becomes a bizarre adventure as nine explorers find more than they bargain for on a planet filled with secrets – which was easy compared to what they encounter when they return to earth.
Synopsis:
Due to advancements in technology, Hypnos and Janus, two ships that left Earth forty-six years apart, arrive in orbit around Salacia at the same time in January 2191. Nine crew members from different points in history must survive the most challenging mission humanity has embarked upon – the exploration and settling of the first earth-like planet ever discovered. What they encounter is far more than they imagined; enormous sentient creatures floating in the atmosphere, mysterious artifacts buried beneath the surface, and sabotage aboard Hypnos. But in spite of the dangers, they soon make Salacia home and agree never to return to Earth. But when their chief science technician is attacked by an alien parasite, they must make a difficult decision to break that oath. Five make the journey:
Carlos – Commander of Hypnos and in love with Terry.
Teagan – Commander of Janus still haunted by the murder of his father.
Nimet – Xenobiologist tired of humanity, until she meets Teagan.
Brent – Technological wizard with a personal secret that could jeopardize the mission.
Terry – Science Tech, kept alive only by cryogenic suspension.
Because of what they thought was a cosmic accident, and the fault of an alien artifact they had on board, the team returns to earth 150 years in the past, a tumultuous time in history. The team makes new allies… and enemies, as they attempt to save Terry and return home. When Carlos and Nimet are mistaken for spies and arrested, Teagan and Brent wrestle with the decision to sacrifice the values they hold dear and attempt a rescue… by any means necessary.
What they begin to discover is that their remarkable journey might not be an accident, but a fate they are unable to escape as creators of their own history.
